Recovery Workers (PRN-As Needed)

Recovery Workers help with much of the day to day business of caring for clients at High Plains Mental Health Center. Job tasks include providing transportation, helping with children’s groups and working one-on-one with individuals in the 24-hour Schwaller Crisis Center. This is a great job for students who are considering a career in mental health, but it is also an excellent job for retired individuals who are willing to help and make some extra money. Hours are flexible with a limit of 28 hours per week.

Recovery Workers (Fridays and Sundays)

High Plains Mental Health Center is looking for PRN Recovery Workers in Hays to transport children to respite homes from varied locations primarily on Fridays and Sundays or as assigned. Recovery Workers are front line workers who help patients and their families deal with the everyday challenges of living with a mental health diagnosis. Our goal is to help our clients reduce their symptoms and improve their independent functioning at home, school, work, and in the community, and Recovery Workers are a major part of that effort. PRN or “when needed” status allows for flexible scheduling that easily works around a school or second employment schedule. Recovery Workers must be at least 18 years of age and should demonstrate the interpersonal skills and experience to be able work with persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Nurse Care Manager

High Plains Mental Health Center currently has a full-time position opening available in our Hays Main Location, for a Nurse Care Manager.  Current licensure as a LPN actively licensed to practice in Kansas is required to support the Health Home in meeting the provider standards.  A minimum of one year experience in either psychiatric/ mental health nursing or in physician office practice is preferred. Must demonstrate competency in the use of technology including computers, various software applications, printers, scanners, telephones, etc.  Must also demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, to include understanding and application of technology (hardware, software, equipment and processes). Works closely with the Center’s Health Home Manager in the provision of nursing services to the Health Home population. Coordination of telemedicine services are included in this service.  The position requires working cooperatively and effectively with other disciplines. The Nurse Care Manager champions healthy lifestyle changes, provides individual care for consumers and facilitates health education activities for clients, staff, and/or community. Coordinates client care with internal and external healthcare providers and is responsible for tracking and ensuring that all required assessments and screenings are completed for each client as permitted. Utilizes and promotes the use of Health Information Technology (HIT) tools and participates in required meetings and trainings. Registered Nurse - ACT Team

Full-Time Bilingual Care Coordinator - HPMHC

The successful candidate must speak fluent Spanish and English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must; experience and skill in public speaking preferred. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, but related field experience may substitute for education, with relevant experience in language translation, marketing/communications, leadership studies, behavioral health care, education or social services. High School GED or diploma is required. The Bilingual Outreach & Care Coordinator will lead outreach and education efforts focusing on engaging the region’s Hispanic/Latino population. The successful candidate will assist in translating outreach brochures and client intake materials and lead community outreach efforts throughout High Plains Mental Health Center’s 20-county catchment area focusing on Hispanic/Latino community outreach. Networking and building connections with community stakeholders will be a significant part of this job. Depending on qualifications of the successful candidate, this position also could assist in translating for non-English speaking clients and also could provide limited case management services in a clinicial setting. However, this is not a position requirement and will depend on the qualifications of the successful applicant.
