Craig Poe, Executive Director
Craig is a sixth-generation Kansan with deep roots in the Northwest Kansas region. A huge K-State fan, he earned his bachelor’s degree in social science with an emphasis in psychology. He received his Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governor’s University. Craig is a proud husband and father of four kids, who keep him and his wife very busy. Actively involved in supporting Kansas 4-H, Craig and his family share in the joy and pain of running a small farmer’s market business.
Over the years, Craig has held senior management roles in multiple industries. Starting his career in sales, he developed a healthy appreciation for the value of customer service and ignited a lifelong passion for learning and development. Craig’s career path includes Regional Sales Manager in the water filtration industry, followed by a General Manager role with Coleman Worldwide Moving. As he developed his business skills, Craig gravitated toward human resources. Building employee relationships and serving as a trusted advisor and consultant to management came naturally, leading to multiple promotions and more senior positions.
As the HR Director for Midwest Concrete Materials, Craig experienced the honor of (and unexpected responsibility for) assisting employees or their families in the course and aftermath of life’s most extreme challenges. This experience left an indelible imprint, giving him insight into the world that counselors and therapists live every day. As he honed his skills in conflict management, mediation and mentoring, Craig transitioned to community mental health, inspired by his respect and admiration for those in this field. As the previous COO of Pawnee Mental Health in Manhattan and the current CEO of High Plains Mental Health Center, Craig’s past experience informs everything he does, reminding him why we do what we do.
