We are a Licensed Community Mental Health Center, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic and Licensed Substance Use Disorder treatment program. We offer a full spectrum of services, including outpatient therapy, medication and psychiatry services, substance use disorder treatment, and community-based support services. A sliding fee scale is available for qualifying clients. We have 26 service locations and telehealth services are widely available.

Mental illness can affect people of all ages, at any time in their lives. An estimated 1 in 5 U.S. adults will experience a mental health problem every year. The good news is there are effective treatments, and recovery is possible! Mental illness is real illness, it is not a sign of weakness. Recovering from a mental illness is not simply a matter of willpower or self-discipline. It often takes a variety of resources and supports, which High Plains Mental Health Center proudly provides to the residents of Northwest Kansas. A sliding fee scale is available and services are not refused if unable to pay.
Outpatient Services
We offer therapy and counseling services for individuals, families and groups as needed. Services include recovery planning, medication assessment and management. We have 26 service sites in Northwest Kansas.
Substance Use Services
High Plains Mental Health Center is a licensed provider for substance use treatment. Our service options include individual, family or group therapy, medication management and peer support. We offer Medication-Assisted Treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
Emergency Services
High Plains Mental Health Center offers 24/7 access to a mental health professional by calling (800) 432-0333. We can connect by telehealth to hospital emergency rooms in 20 Northwest Kansas counties. We also offer Critical Incident Stress Management services for community partners.
Community-Based Support Services
High Plains is the only regional provider for community-based support services for youth and adults. This comprehensive service includes targeted case management, crisis intervention, psycho-social rehabilitation, family support, and housing/respite home services.
Schwaller Crisis Center
The Schwaller Crisis Stabilization Center is the only mental health crisis stabilization center in Northwest Kansas. The crisis center serves adults experiencing a mental health crisis who are struggling to maintain at home due to increased symptoms. Admission is voluntary. The center offers a home-like environment featuring four private bedrooms, a shared living room and a large patio.
